Road America

Road America is a racetrack in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, about 90 miles north of Milwaukee. It's been there since 1955 and covers just over four miles of road course through wooded hills and open fields. My Dad and I visited just for the day to spend time with each other and photograph around the track.

The track has 14 turns and a lot of elevation change. Overall, access is what makes Road America different. You can walk between corners through the trees and hills. Most tracks don't let you do that. And on top of that you can walk by the different racers booths to check out the cars, it’s such a great place to hang out in during the weekends.

The goal of how I wanted my photos to look was to have the car sharp but everything else around be a blur by slowing the shutter speed. This was to show off the speed. Sometimes I thought it was cool and dramatic to have the trees slightly cover or frame the car. Enjoy the photos!
